If humans had taglines, what would yours be?
This tagline is easier said than done. This is what happened to me this morning. It’s winter in tropical Australia and I was dressed appropriately for my early morning walk. Felt like 7 degrees Celsius.
Sitting outside the cafe having a hot coffee with friends and along came an elderly lady walking with her dog. She comes only on a Sunday to get her weekend paper.
She noticed my gloves and commented on them and her hands were glove-less and very cold. I began to take mine off and stopped. My comfort was more important to me than giving something of me to ease her suffering.
Naturally I feel really bad about myself for not helping her. It’s too late now the opportunity has passed but have I learnt anything?
We can say anything we wish about ourselves and Life, but the proof lies in our actions not how we think and speak. I learnt a lot about myself this morning and the important thing is I noticed. We never stop learning about Life. The more we understand ourselves, the more we see what happens in the world like war and sickness. They are not in alignment with what they say about themselves. There are more humans and children getting sick today than ever. Can you see what I’m saying. Noticing is a big step to getting it right. Better than sweeping it under the carpet.
For me it’s back to the present moment where past and future don’t exist and I’ll wait patiently for nature’s happening to put me to the test.
Life is interesting just learning from each other.
